Black47
Black47 Irish Whiskey: 1847 was the worst year of the Great Famine, a period of mass starvation for the Irish people. One million people died and a million more emigrated from Ireland. On March 23rd of that same year, a group of Choctaw Native American Indians congregated in Scullyville, Oklahoma, to collect funds for those starving. It was an extraordinary act of kindness from those who already had so little. One hundred and seventy years later in 2017, a small group gathering in County Cork, unveiled a sculpture to commemorate the Choctaw Nation’s efforts, which will never be forgotten by the Irish people.
